“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ~ Maya Angelou

Associate Agent. Editor. Writer. Reader. Mom. Chocolate addict. Sports fans.

Jennifer—or Jenn—as she prefers to be called has been in love with books since she was big enough to open a book by herself. Always the shy, quirky kid, books allowed her to travel to new places and meet new friends. When she learned to print, she busied herself with writing her own books, and her mom was her first editor—and boy, she was a tough critic!

After seven years as a production editor at Kensington Book Publishing’s Lyrical Press, she made the move to agenting in July 2020 with the Harvey Klinger Literary Agency. As an associate agent, she is currently building her list in picture books, chapter books, middle grade, young adult, and adult fiction. She’s also interested in considering author-illustrators and illustrators.

Jenn also continues to offer editorial services to independent authors through her freelance business, Fresh Look Editorial.

A copyedit concentrates on checking mistakes, inconsistencies, and repetition. I will focus on the sentence-level components of your book, including grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, consistency, and sentence variation.

A proofread focuses on carefully checking the manuscript before submission or publishing. I will concentrate on minor grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, typos, formatting issues, and inconsistencies.

"I had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Herrington on a book series with Kensington and she was the best. Friendly, prompt, approachable, and knowledgeable. Most of all, she got me as a writer. Really got me, and that's hard to find in this market. She never messed with my voice, was gentle in criticisms, and was vocal on praise. I couldn't recommend her more."
